Arizona landlords have 14 business days to return a security deposit after you move out, and they may deduct for cleaning if the property is not returned in the condition you received it, minus normal wear and tear. Cleaning is the part of that you fully control.
Work through the list below room by room, or hand the whole thing to someone else.
Kitchen checklist
The kitchen gets the closest look. Grease, oven residue, and appliance interiors are the most common deductions.
- Clean inside and outside of the oven (remove racks, soak, scrub)
- Clean inside and outside of the refrigerator (remove all shelves and drawers)
- Clean inside the microwave (remove the turntable, wipe walls and ceiling)
- Degrease the range hood and filter
- Clean inside the dishwasher (run empty with vinegar, wipe the door seal)
- Wipe all countertops and backsplash
- Clean the stovetop, drip pans, and burner grates
- Wipe cabinet fronts and handles
- Clean inside every cabinet and drawer
- Sanitize the sink and faucet, removing mineral deposits
- Clean light fixtures and switch plates
- Sweep and mop the floor, including under appliances where reachable
Bathroom checklist
Bathrooms need to be sanitized, not just tidied. Grout, caulk, and hard water are where the time goes.

Before you hand back the keys
Switch plates and outlets. Wipe every one. Dirty switch plates are a surprisingly common deduction.
Doors and door frames. Fingerprints and scuffs are obvious in an empty home.
Windows. Clean the interior side of all of them. Arizona dust makes this visible from across the room.
Floors. Vacuum every room, then mop the hard surfaces. Treat carpet stains while you still can.
Document it. Photograph and video every room after cleaning. That record is what settles a dispute about condition.
Doing it yourself versus hiring it out
Everything above is doable. The question is whether it is doable in the same week you are packing, coordinating movers, and handling everything else a move involves. A professional Move-In/Move-Out covers this list in 5-8 hours.
Move-In/Move-Out cleaning starts at $280, and scales with square footage. If an area inside the scope you booked is missed, tell us within 24 hours and it gets re-cleaned at no charge — that is written into our terms, with its limits stated there too.
Move-out cleaning across the Valley
The same price list covers all 29 Phoenix Valley cities we serve, with no travel fee for any of them. Price a move-out clean for your square footage before you decide.

Book a CleaningCommon questions
Answers, with the limits stated
- Will a professional move-out clean help me get my deposit back?
- It addresses the areas a final walkthrough checks — appliance interiors, grout, baseboards, cabinet interiors, and floors. Nobody can promise a landlord's decision, and we make no claim about what yours will do. What we can say is that cleaning is the part of a walkthrough you can still control after the last box is out.
- Should I clean before or after moving furniture out?
- After. An empty home lets every surface be cleaned, including behind appliances, under where furniture stood, and inside closets. Schedule the cleaning for after the last box leaves and before the lease ends.
- How long does a move-out cleaning take?
- Plan on 5-8 hours depending on the size and condition of the home. Larger homes, or homes with heavy buildup, take longer.
- Do you clean the garage during a move-out?
- A garage sweep is part of the Move-In/Move-Out package where the home has one, at no extra charge — the floor is swept and shelving is wiped down.
